Overview

The QuSpot A955S is an omni-directional LTE/4G antenna and is an extremely adaptable outdoor device for mobile and fixed installations like industrial sites, CCTV networks, yachts and campervans. What makes this antenna so versatile is that it also doubles as a secure weatherproof enclosure for the Teltonika RUT955/956/906 router, allowing this particular router to excel in remote conditions far away from any power source without having to worry about the cable length limitations that plague so many mobile router/antenna installations.

The A955S is a multi-band device, supporting a wide range of UK/EU 4G bands to ensure reliability regardless of location. In addition to this, the antenna also supports 2.4GHz WiFi for use in scenarios where it may be necessary to switch the router's WAN input from 4G to a local WiFi system, or simply for distributing a wireless signal to the surrounding area.

The only connection that is required to this combination is a single Ethernet cable which can be about 50m in length.  Power and data are both carried over this one link through PoE (Power over Ethernet), as long as the power being supplied if between 9-30 volts DC.

A lightning protector may want to be considered on the Ethernet cable leading from this antenna in order to protect the internal circuit of the building/vehicle in the extremely unlikely event that the antenna itself is directly struck by lightning.

IP ratings, or Ingress Protection ratings, are a standardised benchmark of how capable a product is of withstanding ingress from foreign entities that could negatively impact its functionality. They’re helpful because terms like ‘weatherproof’ and ‘waterproof’ are unspecific terms and don’t always convey the necessary level of detail – waterproof on one device can mean it’s capable of withstanding rain. In contrast, on another device, it can mean being capable of complete submersion in water for extended periods.
