Video: Podcast – A discussion on the Teltonika Industrial Trackers
Steve joins Louise in this episode of “A Word from the Wise” in which they discuss the new Teltonika Trackers the EYE Beacon and EYE Sensor. Steve explains the differences between the two and what scenarios they could be used in, including keeping track of power tools on building sites, helping to boost retail sales through Bluetooth notifications to customers, and keeping track of temperature in climate control sensitive rooms such as warehouse fridges.

Video: Teltonika EYE Beacon Construction Site Installation
EYE Beacons have a wide variety of possibilities for fleet management or asset tracking. These small, wireless, easy-to-use and reliable devices are perfect to monitor construction site equipment. No matter the conditions, your EYE Beacons will withstand the harshest environments due to robust IP67-rated casing.
Article - IP Ratings Explained
IP ratings, or Ingress Protection ratings, are a standardised benchmark of how capable a product is of withstanding ingress from foreign entities that could negatively impact its functionality. They’re helpful because terms like ‘weatherproof’ and ‘waterproof’ are unspecific terms and don’t always convey the necessary level of detail – waterproof on one device can mean it’s capable of withstanding rain. In contrast, on another device, it can mean being capable of complete submersion in water for extended periods.
Use Cases - Equipment tracking in hazardous areas with ATEX certified EYE devices
In industries where hazardous environments are common, such as oil and gas, chemical or pharmaceutical manufacturing, equipment often needs to be transported. Tracking the location, usage, and maintenance status of this equipment is essential not only for operational efficiency but also for safety. This requires a tracking device which is certified to work in such environments.
Use Cases - Boosting retail marketing with EYE-BEACON
EYE Beacons should be installed in areas of interest, for example, in different sections of a retail shop. They broadcast their ID signal as an iBeacon or Eddystone protocol. This signal is read by customers' smartphones when initiated by a third-party app. This captures relevant data about a specific customer at a specific location and can then send assigned notifications, for example about sales promotions - deal of the day, week, etc.
Use Cases - Construction tools tracking with BLE Beacons
Beacons repeatedly transmit signals unique to each of them, and Teltonika GPS devices read and identify every single one of them and proximity to them. Afterwards, FM devices send this data as iBeacon or Eddystone profile, combined with its GNSS location details, to a server for analysis. Consequently, every item with an EYE Beacon attached to it will be tracked in real-time via any smart device with an internet connection.
Use Cases - Trailers Tracking with BLE ID Beacons
Each BLE beacon has a unique ID number transmitted over the air as a radio signal at configurable intervals, Teltonika GPS trackers mounted in lorries and trucks read, identify them and send this data as iBeacon or Eddystone profile, combined with its GNSS location details, to a server for analysis and reports. Dedicated software shows all beacons (thus, tagged fleet assents) location based on proximity to the closest tracker, helps with BLE accessories assignment procedure management and so on.
Use Cases - Indoor Tracking Solutions
ID beacons can be fixed in specific places indoors and used as a unique location identifier. When a vehicle equipped with an FM tracker enters a BLE beacon transmitting zone and reads its ID signal, vehicle location gets tracked with pretty high accuracy. If a vehicle operates both outdoors and indoors, it will be tracked via GNSS signal outside and via ID beacons inside.
Use Cases - Waste Containers Tracking with BLE ID Beacons and Sensors
Each one has a unique ID number transmitted over the air as a radio signal at configurable intervals, FMC130 devices mounted in waste collection vehicles read, identify them and send this data as iBeacon or Eddystone profile, combined with its GNSS location details, to a server for analysis and reports.
Use Cases - Telematics for the Agriculture and Farming Industry
ID beacons are small radio transmitters that broadcast their unique identifier signal utilising wireless Bluetooth connectivity which has proven to have low cost, high energy efficiency, accuracy, and low interference. Beacons are easy to install, deploy, and integrate into the existing ecosystem and swiftly replaceable if broken or stolen.
Use Cases - Large Fleet Security Enhanced by Eye Beacons
Teltonika EYE Beacons have a range of up to 80 metres, so even if a vehicle that’s tracker was stolen is further away from the street, it will still be detected. Plus, if the EYE Beacon is tracked by more than one passing vehicle tracker, more precise location information will be gathered, increasing the chances of recovering a stolen vehicle faster.
