In our modern technological world, one of the worst events that can happen is a sudden loss of power to your equipment, whether this be on an industrial site, in a place of business or even just in your own home. These power losses can be exacerbated if they occur at a remote location, rendering you at-best unable to quickly deal with the problem and at-worst unaware that the problem has occurred at all. Travelling to the location to rectify the problem can also be very costly, in terms of both time & money, and ideally you should have a system in-place that largely avoids having to do so.

That system can take the form of the SMS-REMOTEPLUG and/or the SMS-ENVIROTXT, devices that plug straight into the mains and are controlled entirely via SMS text messaging from your mobile phone.

Both the RemotePlug and the EnviroTxt can be set to automatically ping your phone via text message whenever power is lost at a location, or when a room’s temperature reaches a certain designated threshold. This feature is especially useful for rooms which must be kept within a certain temperature range, such as cold warehouse rooms like fridges & freezers or exotic animal habitats that need to be kept hot.

Along with these features, the RemotePlug can also be used to remotely control the power source it’s plugged into, turning the mains on or off depending on your commands. This can be extremely helpful if certain equipment needs to be rebooted and there is nobody on-site to do so, the RemotePlug eliminates the time and costs required for somebody to travel to the location themselves to carry this out.

The RemotePlug also features automatic temperature control & automatic time/date control, allowing heaters/coolers to be controlled to save energy costs, and allowing equipment to be powered on & off depending on the date or time without your input needed.

The EnviroTxt is similar in its facilities, also sending out text alerts when power is lost or restored, and when certain temperatures are reached within its vicinity. An additional feature unique to the EnviroTxt is that it can also send out text alerts for rapid temperature rises, something which can be crucial so as to immediately detect dangerous levels of overheating (such as in a server room) and even fires.

Both the RemotePlug and EnviroTxt are extremely secure because they don’t use any networking technologies that can be snooped on or interfered with. They’re communicated with solely via GSM by texting to and from mobile phone numbers which have been given permission to talk to the device upon set-up. They have quad-band QSM modules so they’ll work anywhere in the UK and run on 2G frequency bands.

Another great benefit of the RemotePlug and EnviroTxt equipment is that they’re so easy to use – no special apps or web interfaces are needed to set-up or use them, it’s as simple as texting commands to a phone number saved in your contact list. With the EnviroTxt allowing contact from 4 simultaneous users and the RemotePlug allowing contact from 5, you can share access to this equipment with any other people who may need it, and be confident that they will all be capable of doing so regardless of their level of technological expertise.
