Overview

The XPOL-24 expands Poynting’s very popular Cross Polarised (XPOL) antenna range. The XPOL-24 is our first-ever 4x4 MIMO over the 5G/LTE band, with exceptional performance. This is due to the incorporation of advanced metamaterial technology, making use of an Artificial Magnetic Conductor (AMC) and a new registered/patent configuration, which has proven to yield exceptional improvements in bandwidth and gain. The radiation patterns of this antenna are exceptionally well controlled, which further adds to the exceptional performance of the antenna.

The Poynting XPOL-24 offers wideband frequency coverage from 617 to 4200 MHz, with a peak gain of 11dBi across the bands of operation. The antenna performs exceptionally well in the following frequency bands: 617 – 960 MHz, 1710 – 2170 MHz, 2300 – 2700 MHz & 3400 – 4200 MHz. The exceptional wideband performance is an important factor for 5G/LTE technologies, as these technologies rely on features such as Carrier Aggregation (CA) to provide the best possible reception and throughput over multiple frequency bands simultaneously. This makes the XPOL-24 the go-to solution for current and future 5G/LTE antenna deployments.

Video - Podcast - Episode 3

Episode 3 covering the acronyms and letters surrounding 4G and 5G and what their meanings are. Where does LTE fit in? What are category classifications and their download speeds? How many antennas on a mobile router? Would you be better off with a higher category 4G router than investing in a 5G router? Steve and Louise also discuss antenna cable and the losses involved with having a too long cable which leads on to conversation about the new Teltonika networking range.

Article - IP Ratings Explained

IP ratings, or Ingress Protection ratings, are a standardised benchmark of how capable a product is of withstanding ingress from foreign entities that could negatively impact its functionality. They’re helpful because terms like ‘weatherproof’ and ‘waterproof’ are unspecific terms and don’t always convey the necessary level of detail – waterproof on one device can mean it’s capable of withstanding rain. In contrast, on another device, it can mean being capable of complete submersion in water for extended periods.
