Overview

Poynting Antennas introduces its all-new antenna enclosure range, the ePoynt series. The ePoynt enclosures are designed to fit a variety of router modules, transforming the antenna enclosure into a Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) – just add your own LTE/5G router. The ePoynt enclosure can accommodate routers up to the size of 185 x 145 x 45 mm³. The ePoynt-2 (EPNT-2) antenna enclosure uses our world-renowned Artificial Magnetic Conductor (AMC) technology from our XPOL-2-5G antenna. Providing a cross-polarised, high gain, uni-directional antenna that offers wideband coverage from 698 to 960 MHz and 1710 to 3800 MHz, making it ideal for LTE & 5G implementations.

The EPNT-2 contains four cross-polarised cellular antennas, with two uni-directional antennas offering a peak gain of 11 dBi and two omni-directional antennas with a peak gain of 5 dBi. Making it ideal for 4×4 MIMO or dual 2×2 MIMO routers. The EPNT-2 also includes two omni-directional dual-band Wi-Fi antennas that cover the 2.4 GHz and 5 to 6 GHz Wi-Fi bands for 2×2 MIMO. The combination of our uni-directional XPOL-2-5G antenna with a world-class router delivers exceptional performance along with increased data throughput. The EPNT-2 enclosure was also designed to withstand adverse weather conditions, making the antenna weatherproof and waterproof with an IP65 rating.

Video Podcast - Episode 3

Episode 3 covering the acronyms and letters surrounding 4G and 5G and what their meanings are. Where does LTE fit in? What are category classifications and their download speeds? How many antennas on a mobile router? Would you be better off with a higher category 4G router than investing in a 5G router? Steve and Louise also discuss antenna cable and the losses involved with having a too long cable which leads on to conversation about the new Teltonika networking range.

Article - Internet on Yacht Nova

"While equipping Nova for this voyage, we searched and found a range of dedicated aerials from a company called Poynting. We bought a good basic non-marine aerial (XPOL-1), spoke with their helpful and knowledgeable UK distributor Solwise, and ended up agreeing they’d provide us with the more substantial fully marinised (waterproof IP68) Poynting Omni-402 for the voyage. Both these aerials can be used to enhance marina wifi too, but we weren’t equipped for that – we wanted to use our own mobile SIM card when possible, for speed and security."

Article - Antenna Choices for your Vehicle, by Louise Barrett

The Solwise antenna range has traditionally contained antennas that have been mounted on a pole or on a wall/building/portable building but in more recent times we are seeing more antennas used on vehicles. These include a wide range of vehicles such as cars, buses, lorries, caravans, motorhomes, boats, barges and even a space agency, an F1 team, mountain rescue teams and a defence contractor have all bought antenna hardware from us so who knows where some vehicle antenna have ended up!
Across our range we offer permanent and temporary solutions for antennas to mount on your vehicle; these antennas cover WiFi solutions and Mobile Data Solutions which means we have something for most situations.

Guest Article - Choosing between a directional or an omni antenna, by Stephen Froneman of Poynting

The choice of omni-directional and directional antenna is not always simple. We will try to explain the key differences experienced by using a uni-directional (aka ‘directional’) antenna vs. an omni-directional (aka ‘omni’) antenna.
