MIMO-1 - Poynting 5-in-1 MiMO LTE/GPS/WiFi Antenna - Discontinued Item

  • 2 x MiMo Wi-Fi dual band
    2 x MiMo LTE
    1 x GPS & GLONASS
  • Operating Frequency:
    690-960 MHz,
    1710-2700 MHz,
    1600 MHz (GPS/Glonass),
    2400-2500 MHz (WiFi),
    5000-5800 MHz (WiFi)
  • Network operator flexibility - as the antenna is wideband, a new
antenna is not needed per network operator - works on most networks
  • The GPS/Glonass antenna and electronics operates down to -40
degrees and up to 70 degrees C which is seldom achieved in
    comparable products.
  • Vandal and water resistant

Overview

The MIMO-1 incorporates 5 antennas in a single rugged low profile antenna housing. Two LTE/4G/3G antennas covering all cellular bands and also achieves MIMO data speed increases since the two antennas provide space and pattern diversity. Similarly two dual band Wi-Fi antennas give blistering speeds at both 2.4 and 5GHz and full MIMO advantage. The fifth antenna is a high performance active GPS/GLONASS module operating down to -40 degrees.

The antenna exceeds the performance of most competitors due to the care and attention to radiation patterns of all radiators. An excellent compromise between omni-directionality, pattern diversity and good radiation at low (horizontal) angles is achieved. Main applications are for industrial vehicles, M2M and other IoT using a range of radio technologies. Whilst this antenna is predominately marketed for industrial purposes it could quite easily be used on a motorhome, caravan or barge, particularly if you were looking for a more permanent installation than the portable antenna we offer.

Application areas
• 4G to Wi-Fi internet on buses, trains etc
• Linking public vehicles to data networks
• Trucks, tractors and other industrial vehicles for control and communications
• M2M to ATMs, vending machines, modems, smart meters, industrial enclosures
• Asset tracking (containers etc)

Video Podcast - Episode 3

Episode 3 covering the acronyms and letters surrounding 4G and 5G and what their meanings are. Where does LTE fit in? What are category classifications and their download speeds? How many antennas on a mobile router? Would you be better off with a higher category 4G router than investing in a 5G router? Steve and Louise also discuss antenna cable and the losses involved with having a too long cable which leads on to conversation about the new Teltonika networking range.

Article - Antenna Choices for your Vehicle, by Louise Barrett

The Solwise antenna range has traditionally contained antennas that have been mounted on a pole or on a wall/building/portable building but in more recent times we are seeing more antennas used on vehicles. These include a wide range of vehicles such as cars, buses, lorries, caravans, motorhomes, boats, barges and even a space agency, an F1 team, mountain rescue teams and a defence contractor have all bought antenna hardware from us so who knows where some vehicle antenna have ended up!
Across our range we offer permanent and temporary solutions for antennas to mount on your vehicle; these antennas cover WiFi solutions and Mobile Data Solutions which means we have something for most situations.

Guest Article - Choosing between a directional or an omni antenna, by Stephen Froneman of Poynting

The choice of omni-directional and directional antenna is not always simple. We will try to explain the key differences experienced by using a uni-directional (aka ‘directional’) antenna vs. an omni-directional (aka ‘omni’) antenna.
