RouterTech firmware
The RouterTech firmware is unofficial firmware written, by a group of volunteers, fluent in the GPL code used in the family of routers based on the TI AR7WRD and AR7RD platforms. The RouterTech firmware offers a number of exciting and useful features which are not present in the original factory software. Full details available from the opposite link. Reading the documentation supplied with the firmware and at the link opposite is essential to ensure successful flashing. Support for this firmware can only be obtained in the firmware forum of this site and NOT from Solwise. Bug reports should be filed in the same forum, with a prefix to the thread title of [BUG]. This will allow the development team to read, discuss and fix the bug before updating the firmware and closing the thread.
In order to upgrade your SAR-600E to the latest RT firmware then you will need to use file routertech-ar7rd-adam2-1port-firmware-20070227.zip.
First of all you MUST check your current Solwise firmware version.:
If it is v62.2.2 or higher, then you should be okay, to upgrade with the single (combined) firmware image (RouterTech_3.6.0D_20070227_2.20_AR7RD-1Port_Adam2_firmware.upgrade.img)
If it is v38.x.x.x (or any version lower than 62.x.x.) then you MUST first upgrade your firmware to the Solwise firmware v62.2.2). You must follow to the letter the instructions in their "Firmware Upgrade Instructions for 600.pdf" file for upgrading from v38.x.x.x to v62.2.2. Then you should upgrade to the RT v2.2 firmware, single image. Then you must do a factory reset.
If you do not follow this procedure and you have the Solwise v38.x firmware, attempting to upgrade to the RT firmware will NOT work.
Please note the "Status->Product Information" menu in the RT firmware has timeouts on this router, due to the fact that there isn't an external USB port, although there is some support on the system board for USB. So you may wish to avoid that menu if you don't care to wait for 2 minutes for the timeout to occur while the system tries to get the usb MAC addresses
